Rev. Jerry Crossley
I was born in Philadelphia in 1937 and attended public elementary school, Central High, Ursinus College, Harvard Divinity School, and Drew Theological School. My first appointment (1960-64) was 2 little churches in the Pocono Mountains of PA, Blakeslee and Pocono Lake. In 1964 I was appointed to a church , Lindley UMC,in my home neighborhood, the Olney section of Philadelphia. In 1968 I was assigned to Wilkinson Memorial UMC in Croydon (Lower Bucks County). In 1973 I returned to Philadelphia where I pastored Holmesburg UMC. Then, in 1987, I was sent to Evangelical UMC inNew Holland in Lancaster County. After a ministry of 40 years, I officially retired in 2000.
But I love being a pastor, so it was with great joy that I became the pastor of Green Creek Bethel UMC, 7 miles from Wildwood, NJ. In addition to my pastoral responsibilities through the years, I have also been an ambulance driver, a hospital chaplain, a prison chaplain, a Civil Air Patrol chaplain, a Fire Department chaplain, and now, once again, a chaplain at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital in Cape May Court House.
I'm a father of 2 and a grandfather of 4, and I like people of every age. It's our hope that our congregation will be a safe place where people of every race, ethnic background, occupation, political persuasions, etc. will always feel welcome. Our goal is to enable each peson to know the
love of Jesus.
